Dave Barnes and the Children

Mmkay.  Dave Barnes is pretty much the funniest, most awesome, talented, groovin' musician I have ever come across.  If you don't believe me, please YouTube him and enjoy (go for the Christmas Extravaganza, its the best).  He's so awesome that Whit and I even sent him an email asking him to come to Minneapolis again and he responded  (and he came!), I swear it was legit.  But there's more to Dave Barnes and his music then laugh-my-face-off YouTube videos - his concerts are wonderful (which is saying something because I hate concerts), his music is unique, soulful, and he has something to say.  The music he writes speaks life and it shows love unlike this world has seen.

Our first Dave concert was May 5th, 2008 - Whit, Laura, Noelle, and I.  I was having a terrible day (breakups will do that to you) but the one thing I remember was this song - and its words have never left me.

10,000 children and all I can do is just talk.
While my house is full of possessions that negligence bought.
Everyone tells me that I'm not to blame,
Why do I still feel the same?

Only love can save us all.
Only love can save us all, save us all.

10,000 children at my invitation to change.
To continue in excess now suddenly feels oh so strange.
Prayers and money should not be confused,
But I pray that both still are used.

Only love can save us all.
Only love can save us all

What will become of me?
Inside of history

10,000 children and all I can do is just talk.

Its not just a song - its a call to change our hearts and to pour that into the way we live, what we do, say, pray for, and spend our money on.
