A different kind of lock on the bridge over the old moat of the Old City in Riga, Latvia. Lovers and married couples engrave their names on the broadside of padlocks and snap them onto the beautiful iron bridges - a new twist on "ball and chain". Some are so old they've rusted onto the rails. We discovered them our first night in the city while exploring the cobbled streets and hiring row boats down the river. Apparently once they've secured their metallic declaration of fidelity they throw the key into the water below. I like it.
