Sneak Peak: Wedding Dress

As some of you know, a friend of mine approached me last January to design and sew her wedding dress. Well, now the wedding is over, I can show you a few snapshots of her gown while we're waiting for the wedding photos to come in....right now I'll I have are the instagrams from the day we finished.

A labor of love, let me tell you, it was a gorgeous piece to work on and the bride couldn't have been better or more relaxed about the zillion fittings we had or late finish. It was made of beautiful silk from Treadle Yard Goods and finished with satin buttons and scalloped lace from Etsy via Korea.
This was my first wedding dress and the bride wasn't quite sure what she wanted at first - but we ended up with a simple scooped neckline, silk trimmed cap sleeves, silk gauze skirt overlay and the most beautiful open back I've ever made - lined with lace all the way from shoulders to waist, down the train to just above the floor.

It was more beautiful than we could have planned - there were definitely challenges, but she looked absolutely lovely when we finished.
