Yesterday, we went to the Master's thesis presentation of our French teacher, Timothy Ouattara. Not only did he knock it out of the park, he received one of highest scores out of all his colleagues - tied only with his cousin, who presented her research last week. Needless to say, we are proud. The whole room erupted in cheers as the examiners announced the final result. His topic was fascinating and a little ironic because it was not something I expected in West Africa: Leadership in Black America as outlined in the biography of .... well, someone whose name I forgot, but the kicker is that it was all in English. Not his native tongue. I can't wait to read it!
After this and the delicious reception to follow, the day was pretty much shot, so I spent it making bread, sitting with friends on the porch and learning some new songs with our guitar - "Oliver." Oh! and we also met a random German lady, here for a few weeks on a medical trip.
